Rajesh Subramaniam: New CEO, President of FedEx unleashing the power of Indian genepool

Adding to the list of Indians doing wonders in the corporate world, Rajesh Subramaniam has been appointed as the president and chief executive officer of the US multinational courier delivery giant FedEx. He will join the duties from January 1, 2019.

Currently the executive vice president, chief marketing and communications officer of FedEx Corporation, he will succeed Cunningham who will retire on December 31, 2018.

Rajesh Subramaniam ‘s Journey To CEO of FedEx:-

Working with FedEx for the last 27 years, he joined the multinational in 1991. Working parallel to the company’s global goals, his key result areas include overseeing all the aspects of the global marketing and communications. Rajesh Subramaniam also plays a key role in matters including advertising, brand and reputation, product and business development, e-commerce, retail marketing and digital access.

A member of the FedEx Strategic Management Committee, a group of selected individuals who play a fundamental part in deciding the course of the company’s future, Subramaniam began his career with the company in Memphis. He subsequently moved to Hong Kong and supervised marketing and customer service for the Asia Pacific Region.

Sharing his viewpoint, David J Bronczek, president and chief operating officer, FedEx Corporation, said “Raj’s global vision and broad experience make him uniquely qualified to lead our largest operating company. We look forward to the continued growth of FedEx Express within our global portfolio as Raj takes on this critical role.

The IIT-Bombay graduate was then appointed as the president of FedEx Express in Canada. The next leap landed him back in the US where he assumed the role of senior vice president of international marketing. A native of Thiruvananthapuram, Rajesh Subramaniam also holds an MS in Chemical Engineering from Syracuse University, and an MBA in marketing/Finance from the University of Texas in Austin.

The next move in his career graph landed him with the position of executive vice president of marketing in 2013 at FedEx services. In 2017, he was named as the executive vice president and chief marketing and communications officer at FedEx Corporation.

In his tenure so far, the soon-to-be President and CEO has accomplished multiple benchmark achievements. He is the name behind the continuing digital transformation of FedEx services, the first-ever global brand campaign, and considerable spread of the company’s global portfolio.

At 52 according to Bloomberg, Rajesh Subramaniam, who is also known as Raj, has multiple board memberships. He is the director at The Conference Board of Canada, an independent director of the First Horizon National Corporation, and a director of the First Tennessee Bank National Association.

  3. Indians are very hard working and have the capability to rule the world. This has been proved wehn we see that the big organisations like Google, Microsoft, Amway etc. relying on Indians. Rajesh Subramaniam has made us proud.

  4. Indian are always supressed by lack of money, education and curruption, but once they get chance they show the world who they are. The obe example is our stars like sundar pichai, satya nadela, Rajesh Subramaniam. I hope one day we will definitely prove the world.

  5. Well its an old talk but i am totally agree with mr ankit jaiswal . As we have seen in case ASAT experiment. our scientist have done it when they got support from government. Indian are very hard working and the people like Rajesh Subramaniam are proving this. We can lead this world by example.
